What Is the Nespresso Vertuo Pop?

The Vertuo Pop is Nespresso's entry-level Vertuo machine, covering five cup sizes — espresso (40ml), double espresso (80ml), gran lungo (150ml), mug (230ml), and alto (414ml) — from a single 24cm-tall unit. At £59 it is the cheapest way into the Vertuo system and consistently discounted from £99.99. The 4.0-star rating from 727 buyers reflects a machine that does exactly what it promises without extras.

Design

Five colour options including coral, lime green, and coconut white make it a deliberate choice on the worktop. At 24cm tall it fits under standard kitchen cabinets. The 0.6L water tank covers 2–3 large cups before refilling, and both the drip tray and pod container are dishwasher-safe.

Performance

Centrifusion technology reads the barcode on each capsule and automatically adjusts brew speed, temperature, and infusion time. The result is a correctly extracted cup of each style without any manual setting. Heat-up takes 30 seconds; a mug-size brew adds another 60 seconds. The two-button rapid-rinse cleans the system in 30 seconds, and auto shut-off after 2 minutes prevents energy waste.

Running Costs

Vertuo capsules cost approximately £0.45–0.65 each — higher than Original-range capsules but comparable to quality high-street coffee. Nespresso's recycling scheme collects used pods via post or boutique drop-off, reducing the single-use footprint. A separate Aeroccino frother (around £50) adds milk-based drinks if required.

Verdict

For a compact kitchen, a first coffee machine, or anyone who wants five cup sizes at one button press, the Vertuo Pop at £59 is hard to beat. The 4.0 stars are honest: it is a straightforward machine that earns its place.

Rating: 4.0/5 — Capsule convenience at the most accessible price in the Vertuo range.
